I can't find your entry on the seedang site. Do you have a direct link to your entry maybe?
Ditto Simon's comment.
Is it just me or does the logo look like one of the twin-towers being hit ?
http://www.seedang.com/story
Paul, you can find it there. Walter, Simon, sign up and you'll find out btw: Walter, pxn8 is an absolutely amazing piece of work, I've been using for a while now, and mean to write a post about it. I'll get on it
I've signed up I think.
It's difficult to grasp what you want people to do when they click the signup. You direct them to #email but neither IE or firefox jumped to any part of the page or to another page (nor did it load any sort of new data).
Sorry about that Paul, and thanks for the info.
By sign up, we just mean register your email address, so you will be contacted when we launch.
Thanks Des.
What is the logo image ? The site looks very well designed. As far as I know this is the first irish RoR site - how do you find working with Ruby-On-Rails ?
Dave is the Ruby-Rails guy, I've asked him to step in here and answer your question
Thanks Des.
Walter, thanks for your kind words on the design. Rails is a fantastic web application framework, and the Ruby language is very expressive. What I like most about Rails is that it does all of that crap that you always do in a web app (creating, reviewing, updating and deleting) and allows you to spend your time working on the important stuff -- your application logic. What I like most about Ruby is that everything, EVERYTHING, is an object. Even the constant integer 5 is an object, with properties and methods. Because everything is an object, everything that is returned from a method is also an object, with its own methods. As a result, you can do really cool things like: @people.collect { |person| person.name }.sort { |a,b| a b }.each do |name|<br /> puts name + ''has been Nakatomi'd!''<br /> end Des, this geshi stuff isn't working; can you edit this comment to fix the code sample? This will itterate over every person's name in the Array of people, @people, in alphabetical order, and print out " has been Nakatomi'd!" for each person. This is in three lines of code. As you can imagine, this sort of thing comes in very useful when trying to handle lists!
Its nice to see some people actually take a leap into the future, and actually do something with web 2.0, instead of just showing off. Fair play lads, looking forward to it.
Great looking site man, you Irish dudes really have it going on with this AJAX stuff, where do I sign up?
Everybody gets it's a joke, right?? You're not all seriously complementing them on their application just because they bumped up the font-size a few notches and mentioned Web 2.0??? I really hope you're all in on it, or else the bubble madness has definately hit this side of the pond.
"Nakatomi will change the way you think about web 2.0" - Right. Good one lads. Sign me up.
To sign up, just type your email in the box at the bottom, and click on the confirmation link you receive.

I'm quite impressed with nakatomi.com, created by Des and Dave. Its combining all the best bits of web 2.0 together to make the ultimate social aggregation website, a one-stop shop for everyone. It promises to be an amazing portal.

Well, haven't posted anything here in a few days or thereabouts. My situation's changed somewhat; I recently landed a job as a software developer for a small ISV in Dublin. Respect to Phil B for putting me in touch with these folks. They produce softwa
