I've been reading

  • Passtion is Blind Kathy Sierra explains why when iSpanners drop 3 grand on a laptop, they will defend it to their death. This is a really good article, its a good read for evangelists of all sorts, Apple, Windows, Linux, iPods etc
  • The Zen of Presentations This is a really good post about presentation styles. If you have to speak/present occasionally as I do, then it'll certainly make you reflect on your own style. This particular one contrasts the style of Bill Gates and Steve Jobs when attempting to promote products and generate hype. (The one point I would make, is that Steve Jobbs has a much easier job, when he takes to the stage Apple Fans start giggling like thirteen year old girls who've just seen WestLife at a photoshoot. )
  • Nominations for The Best Software Writing II I reviewed the first volume of this series earlier. This is a link to a board where Joel Spolsky is taking nominations.
  • The Top 10 AJAX Applications, Part 2 If you've read my beginners guide to AJAX, and are interested in seeing what the technology can produce, then this is a good link.
  • The Wall Street Programmer It's rare you find an blog whose author has a nice "balls out, fuck you" attitude, this is a good one. The online journal of an anonymous wall street programmer.

Agile Development - The Managers Take

If you are in or around the Computer Science Department of NUI Maynooth, and would be interested in attending talks on the various types of research we do, here is an ics file which should neatly drop into your Thunderbird/Sunbird/Evolution/iCal program.

NUIM-Calendar.ics Right Click, and Save Link. If you know how to get this working in Outlook, please let me know. Exporting as a .csv or .ics doesn't seem to work.
